All Koi deserve
a treat, and what better than a supplementary food that provides the
benefit of being a natural source for colour enhancement, whilst also having
a high nutritional and vitamin value. Cloverleaf Freshwater Shrimp (dried in their shells) are of the"Gammarus pulex" variety and are selectively used in the factory farming of Trout, Sturgeon & Carp due to their ease of digestibility, known purity and vitamin content. That level of purity comes about in the knowledge that this variety of shrimp will only survive in exceptionally clean water with a good level of oxygen saturation. Cloverleaf Freshwater

Food Close Up |
With an Aladdin’s cave of fish food already on the market one could be forgiven for thinking there is not much demand for yet another, however Cloverleaf believe that the unique formula and versatility of COMPLETE deserves to be a winner. Containing 20% fresh Salmon and numerous other beneficial enhancers the pellets can be successfully fed to all types of pond fish throughout the year (at water temperatures above 42F. COMPLETE is ideal for use in the Cloverleaf range of computer controlled auto fish feeders, and is available in pack sizes of 500 Gram, 1Kg, 2.5Kg, 5Kg, 10Kg and 20Kg with the option of medium or large pellet size. All packs contain 50% floating sticks & 50% floating pellets. Now available also in small pellets. The ingredients of Cloverleaf COMPLETE will stand the scrutiny of the most fastidious fish keeper – this is part reason why the product is fairly described as a “Superior Fish Food”
Key features of COMPLETE are: 1/ Contains 20% fresh whole Salmon – ideal for growth. 2/ All ingredients are certified as GM free. 3/ Formula comprises 100% natural products, with no artificial colourings, preservatives or flavours. 4/ Contains Canthaxanthin and Beta-Carotene which aids the immune system and improves pigmentation. 5/ Contains Spirulina, the best natural colour enhancer. 6/ Highly digestible, and due to minimal residue assists in the efficiency of any filtration system. 7/ Nutritional value has been scientifically formulated and developed to be the only food required for all pond fish all year round. Feeding Guide: Feed 2 or 3 times daily with amounts that will be consumed in 2 to 3 minutes. In cold weather only feed in the mornings, but not at all with water temperatures below 42F.
Fish Health Notice: For those who just might have some concern over the past American inspired scare story linking British Salmon with PCB’s and cancer, they will be interested in a comment made by Brian Mander (Fish Health Inspector) from CEFAS, who in early 2004 stated (quote): "We have no knowledge of any research that suggests the salmon content of fish food has a detrimental effect on fish heath due to high levels of PCBs” |
| General Notes On The Following Water Treatments: | |
| All to often the pond
keeper only rushes to the store to purchase a test kit, vitamin
supplement or water treatment when fish are floating dead on the
surface. It is of course all far to late by then, and the enthusiastic
hobbyist should learn to appreciate that testing water parameters and
trying to improve water quality must become a regular part of pond
management. Healthy fish and a healthy pond are not a gimmick. Do remember that prevention is better than cure. No product in the “ANSWER” range will deplete oxygen levels, but just like the beneficial bacteria colonies that propagate within filter systems they all require healthy oxygen levels for their development. Always check that oxygen saturation levels in the pond are healthy before applying any additive treatments, be they from Cloverleaf or any other manufacturer. |

| Cloverleaf ANSWER Range Of Water Treatments | |
![]() |
With
Cloverleaf’s “Blanket Answer” now proven to be extremely
successful in removing the dreaded blanket weed (filamentous algae), it
was thought time to extend the range by introducing other products
orientated towards achieving good water quality, and an environmentally
sound pond. These 4 new products comprise:
(1)
“Sludge Answer”(2)
“Bacteria Answer”
(3)
“Pond Support Answer”
(4)
“Oxygen Answer”. All
bottles contain a 30ml measuring cup (from 5ml to 30ml).
Always replace the cup back into the bottle to assist in forming an air
tight seal. |
| Cloverleaf Blanket Answer | |
|
“Blanket
Answer” is a unique blend of minerals and enzymes to combat
blanket weed – the nightmare curse of many a pondkeeper. The special
formula works in all temperatures, and seeks
to succeed where many commercial bacteria cultures will fail. It is 100%
safe for all pond fish, plants, and biological filtration systems. UV
units or protein skimmers need not be switched off.
Unlike some products on the
market Blanket Answer is not dependent upon water temperature, and is
not held back/restricted by high ph levels.
For persistent filamentous algae growth it is recommended that the pond be treated 8 times a year. This in itself will likely mean that the treatment over the course of a year will be cheaper than many similar competitive products. An 800 Gram bottle of “Blanket Answer” will treat 10,000 litres (2,222 gallons). Blanket Answer is simply added to the pond by sprinkling the powder evenly over the surface (see also note below). The water will initially take on a white milky appearance, but this will clear after about 5 days. The composition of the ingredients will form as a powdery layer on the ponds liner faces, and it is here that the roots of any blanket weed gets attacked. As with most water treatments the pond should have a good level of oxygen saturation, which should exist without generating an undue turbulent situation throughout the pond that would prevent the Blanket Answer ingredients from settling onto the weed or liner. During and after applying, common sense should prevail in the washing of hands, and storing the product in a dry place away from the reach of children. Although no known dangers are thought to exist the application to the pond of any other chemical or treatment should be spaced 10 days from applying the Blanket Answer. NOTE: Further tests & experiments carried out over 18 months (2005/2006) have shown that Blanket Answer can be applied to the pond via the alternative of mixing and stirring the product into a can or bucket containing 2 gallons/9 litres of pond water. The small benefit is that the milky appearance of the pond water does clear in a faster period (about 3 days) than when Blanket Answer is sprinkled onto the pond surface. Where extensive clumps of blanket weed exists manual removal of the worst is recommended as a sensible & logical step before treating. It should be generally noted that some instances might be witnessed where following an application fish are seen “mouthing” at the surface. This is not a positive sign of danger (when the product certainly does not deplete oxygen levels), but as with many additives placed in the pond the fish become inquisitive as to its content and whether it is edible. Users will find that the best of visual awareness as to the erosion of any filamentous algae will come about following the second application, but this is hardly to mean that no visual signs will be apparent within the first month. Indeed the ingredients of Blanket Answer will start to work immediately, and will be seen to even make a contribution towards the filter mediums staying cleaner. Whilst some amounts of breaking down the algae will result in weed particles being pumped into the filter, the unique ingredients will also erode the algae conveying the illusion that it has vanished into thin air. Filters: Many Koi keepers have a routine of flushing out their large filter systems, and carrying out small water changes at very regular intervals. Alas Blanket Answer is not so magical as to be immune from being flushed out of the pond, however with the purifying properties within the treatment the ponds past balance will change for the better, and so Cloverleaf recommend that water changes are restricted on the basis of only doing so if detrimental water parameters are established by a test kit. For those who refuse to go down such paths, then the other option is to add a dose of Blanket Answer every 4 weeks – making a total of 13 treatments per annum instead of the normal 8. Minor overdosing is not known to be dangerous, but likewise nothing is to be gained in applying a higher dose rate at any one session. Those making use of pressurised canister filters which incorporate a byepass when blocked should ensure that the filter is kept clean, and not allowed to become blocked to the point of the byepass facility then pumping particles of weed around & around the pond.
There will be many pond keepers who obtain good success in the short term. They can be fully assured that they will not be “locked in” to having to purchase Blanket Answer every month of their lives. 800 gram bottle will treat ponds up to 10,000 litres (40ml treats 500 litres). For health & safety advice see bottom of page. Special Note: Numerous users of Blanket Answer have found that after a few doses no more has been required for 6 months. This makes it a poor seller in terms of continual repeat business, but highlights just how brilliant the product is. | Cloverleaf Sludge Answer | |
![]() |
Sludge Answer
is a unique blend of beneficial bacteria to convert and remove sludge
from the pond and filter system.
The accumulation of sludge within a
pond or filter system means far more than an unhealthy sight, when such
deposits will not only erode important saturated oxygen levels but also
become a detrimental breeding ground for nasty pathogenic bacteria. 1 litre bottle will treat ponds up to 5,000 litres (30ml treats 150 litres). For health & safety advice see bottom of page. |
| Cloverleaf Pond Support Answer | |
![]() |
Pond
Support Answer is a
unique blend of beneficial bacteria for general pond management.
Beneficial bacteria play a key role
in maintaining a healthy pond environment whilst contributing to the
clarity of water. Cloverleaf’s "Pond Support Answer" is the
answer to providing the established pond with a biological tonic that
enhances and protects the ponds essential balance. 1 litre bottle will treat ponds up to 10,000 litres (30ml treats 300 litres). For health & safety advice see bottom of page. |
| Cloverleaf Bacteria Answer | |
![]() |
Bacteria Answer is a unique
blend of nitrifying bacteria to promote healthy filtration systems.
Nitrifying bacteria are vital for the
establishment of a healthy balanced pond, and are a key contributor
towards the development of a mature filtration system. Achieving such
parameters in a new fish pond is fraught with potential problems, but
Cloverleaf’s "Bacteria Answer" is the safe answer to accelerating
the process.
|
| Cloverleaf Oxygen Answer | |
![]() |
Oxygen Answer is a unique blend of minerals to provide healthy
oxygen levels, and can be a positive life saver at times when fish
appear stressed. Good levels of oxygen are vital for the health of fish, and equally as important for the wellbeing of supporting the beneficial bacteria which colonise filtration systems. Warm weather and ponds with many plants can be problematic often witnessed by fish mouthing at the pond surface. This is a true danger sign best avoided, and "Oxygen Answer" is the safe answer in addressing all these problems. The wise pondkeeper should keep a bottle of Oxygen Answer in their emergency cupboard, especially to be at the ready when power strikes occur. 1 litre bottle will treat ponds up
to 33,000 litres (30ml treats 1000 litres). For health & safety advice
see bottom of page. |
| General Health & Safety Tips: | |
| General common sense
should be the prevailing factor on the storage and use of all pond water
treatments, chemicals & food products. No Cloverleaf product is
knowingly dangerous, but that does not mean that “Blanket Answer” can be
safely added into the wife’s cup of tea. All such products should be kept in a safe place away from pets and the prying hands of young children, and away from being cross contaminated with human food products. Wash hands following the use of any product, and where treatments are diluted in a watering can then keep a special can (duly marked) for this purpose. (The very last thing wanted is a watering can that has been previously used to mix up weed killer). Always re-seal the lids on bottles etc, to prevent any form of erosion/degrading that can potentially take place when subjected to the air for long periods of time. All pond related food/bacteria products are best stored in a cool dry place. Never add any water treatments to the pond when 2 days later it is the intention to clean the filters and carry out a partial water change. Many Cloverleaf products are great, but not when they are washed down a drain or onto the lawn. Always plan treatment applications with some degree of forethought. Tip: Although not strictly necessary bacteria culture products do benefit from being diluted into a watering can of mature pond water, and then subjected to a bombardment of oxygen via an airstone & pump for a 30 minute period. This assists in bringing the cultures to life more quickly, and is applicable to such products as Sludge Answer, Bacteria Answer and Pond Support Answer. (The procedure is not required for Blanket Answer). |
